Backup Administrator

Job Responsiblities:

As a Backup Engineer (client), you will be focused on the guest-side administration of TSM and Cobalt Iron backup and recovery activities, meeting and exceeding defined service levels in delivering backup and recovery services to our banking sector client. Your key responsibilities will include daily backup connectivity troubleshooting, responding to audit requirements and executing critical data restores. You will also be involved in software lifecycling activities such as upgrading agent installations at a large scale to maintain the environment at target levels. You will be a key participant in migrating backups between TSM and Cobalt Iron, as well as contributing ideas towards automating backup workflows, and serving as an escalation point on shift to other members of the team. Maintaining diligence around ITSM process and providing detailed documentation of operational procedures are paramount in this role. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
● Provide exceptional backup services, prioritizing simplicity and enhancing the customer experience. ● Administer TSM and Cobalt Iron backup and restore jobs in a mixed environment of Unix, Linux and Windows servers. ● Demonstrate troubleshooting skills for backup agent performance issues. ● Proficiently manage and balance backup schedules and policies. ● Work independently and participate in on-call rotations as required. ● Possess in-depth knowledge of TSM and Cobalt Iron client installations. ● Troubleshoot backup issues on Unix, Linux and Windows servers, utilizing appropriate commands. ● Adhere to established company processes, including change management, incident management, and problem management. ● Utilize automation tools for efficient backup processes.
