Our client is a reputed business in India with strong interests in the mining sector.
As the Business Head (Coal Mining Division) this role will oversee multiple mining sites or operations within the eastern and central regions of India. As the leader of the business division, incumbent will lead both operating mines as well as mines currently in project stages both in open cast and underground mines set up. This role requires the incumbent to operate and as a full P&L Leader and as an SBU Head.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Provide leadership and direction to site leaders and teams.
Ensure that all operations meet performance and safety goals.
Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve business objectives and growth targets.
Operational Oversight:
Monitor and manage the financial performance and budgets of the SBU.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Oversee the coordination of activities across different sites to optimize efficiency and productivity.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all safety protocols are strictly followed.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
Implement corrective actions to address any safety or compliance issues.
Business Development:
Analyze market trends and competition to identify opportunities and threats.
Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategies for growth.
Identify new business opportunities and potential sites for expansion.
Team Development:
Provide training and development opportunities for staff.
Foster a positive and productive work environment.
Manage staff performance and address any issues or concerns.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering. 1989 – 1995 Batch Preferred. (Non Mining Engineers will not be preferred).
Experience:
Proven experience in leadership roles within the coal mining industry with exposure to large open cast mine operations/complex UG Mine Management. Experience and exposure to complex contracts and its management thereof is a must.
Skills:
Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to make sound decisions in a dynamic and competitive environment.
Knowledge of local regulations and industry standards.
Note:
Candidates who have crossed the mandated retirement age in India from PSU’s or other organizations with extensive experience in mining will NOT be preferred. Only candidates who are currently in service must apply.
