- SQL Tuning - Identifying and tuning problematic SQL
- Tuning production database configuration parameters for better performance and security.
- Experience in shell/ bash/ python scripting would be essential.
- Experience with monitoring solutions such as Nagios or Prometheus.
Good to Have:
- Experience with PostgreSQL extensions and tools such as pg_repack and PgBouncer.
- Experience with configuration management tool such as Chef, Ansible, or Puppet.
- Linux shell scripting experience (preferably bash)
- Experience working with cloud providers such as AWS and/ or Azure and their appropriate tools.
- Experience with Storage provisioning such as adding, removing, and extending volumes.
- Linux Tuning – Identifying I/O bottlenecks and CPU consumption.
- Basic knowledge of Python, Perl and/or Ruby.
Candidate Profile & Competencies
- Candidate must have experience with providing support on PostgreSQL preferably on Ubuntu/Debian Linux or Windows.
- Responsible for Handling trouble tickets and on-call requests (find and clear locks, run SQL for developers, etc.). These requests can be in India daytime or US daytime.
- General database maintenance, patching, and upgrading.
- Assist with automating DB provisioning process.
