We are looking for experienced Drilling Engineers with an emphasis on Wells Engineering and Designing to provide wells engineering support across Cairn Business Units at our locations of Barmer, Surat (Offshore) and Northeast.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility of the incumbent will be to provide support for well engineering &well operations. Prepare MOCs and Dispensations for drilling related operations.
  • Preparation of drilling programs, prepare and assist peer review sessions
  • Review third party rigs/ tangibles/ vessels inspection report, endurance test report, pre-spud report, individual rig equipment inspection reports as applicable, equipment testing reports, acceptance and closeout reports etc.
  • Follow up day to day operations. Maintain drilling database
  • Preparation of AER’s and various cost estimates. Cost Monitoring
  • Preparation of End of well reports
  • Carry out technical evaluations for procurement of equipment & services necessary for operations
  • Provide assistance to the team lead for formulation of management reports, JV reports, response to government and JV audits
  • Work as well site engineer
  • Carry out technical evaluations for procurement of equipment & services necessary for operations
  • Provide assistance to the team lead for formulation of management reports, JV reports, response to government and JV audits
  • Independently write fishing programs for retrieving stuck tools and equipment during drilling operations, employing innovative techniques and strategies.
  • Conduct plug and abandonment (P&A) activities for wells reaching end-of-life stage, coordinating with regulatory authorities and environmental agencies to ensure compliance with decommissioning regulations.
  • Utilize expertise in material selection to design casing and tubing programs that meet operational requirements, environmental considerations, and budget constraints.


Qualifications and Experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8-15 years in well engineering/operations. For Offshore role will need minimum 5 years as an offshore well site drilling engineer.
  • For Deepwater Drilling role need minimum 3 years of Deepwater experience.
  • Experience in planning and executing onshore and offshore wells, with a focus on jack-up rigs and deviated well drilling.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Well design, drilling engineering principles, directional drilling, mud engineering, cementing, well construction and abandonment operations, and critical well construction equipment (e.G., BOP, wellhead & X-mas tree, hoisting system, cementing equipment, mud pumps, liner hanger systems, completion equipment).
  • Strong understanding of casing and tubing design principles, especially in material selection for corrosive environments and high-pressure/high-temperature conditions.
  • Proficient with drilling engineering software, including Landmark Suite (for trajectory design, hydraulics, torque, and drag analysis), COMPASS, Wellcat, StressCheck, DrillBench, and WellPlan.
  • Knowledge of process safety related to drilling operations and a proactive approach to managing HSE.
  • Familiarity with API standards and industry best practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and the Open Wells reporting system.

Certifications:

  • Well Control Accreditation at a Supervisory level (e.G., IWCF).
  • Valid certifications in offshore safety (e.G., BOSIET) for offshore role.
