Description Sutherland Research is looking for an enterprising professional in a managerial role who is passionate about providing best-in-class research support to some of the top buy-side and sell-side clients across geographies (primarily US and Europe but could be global) and various cap sizes (large, mid & small cap) in the Sutherland Equity Research division. You will join a dynamic and fast-paced environment and work with cross-functional teams to deliver quality research support to clients. Roles & Responsibilities As an Equity Research manager, roles and responsibilities will encompass, but not be limited to, the following: Lead a Team • Supervise, mentor, and guide a team of equity research analysts in their daily activities, ensuring high-quality research output. • Set clear performance goals, provide regular feedback, and facilitate professional growth and development of team members. • Coordinate team activities, allocate research assignments, and manage workloads to meet deadlines. Review & Analysis • Oversee the research process, ensuring comprehensive analysis of companies, industries, and macroeconomic trends. • Lead the development of financial models, valuation methodologies, and projections to assess investment opportunities. • Review and validate the deliverables, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to regulatory standards. Client Engagement • Interact with clients to discuss investment strategies, research findings, and market trends. • Build and maintain strong client relationships by delivering insightful and tailored analysis. Market Insights • Stay updated on relevant market developments, economic indicators, and regulatory changes that could impact investment decisions. • Collaborate with other departments, such as portfolio management and trading, to align research findings with overall investment strategies. Provide Expert-level Research Support • Based on the business requirement the candidate may also be expected to work in an individual contributory role providing expert-level support to onboard new clients and lead pilot projects. Strategy Development • Contribute to the development of the firm's investment strategy by identifying emerging trends, risks, and opportunities. • Collaborate with senior management to define the firm's approach to equity research and refine research methodologies. Compliance and Ethics • Ensure all research activities comply with relevant industry regulations, ethical standards, and best practices. • Uphold the firm's reputation for integrity, transparency, and unbiased analysis. Qualifications & Required Skillsets To succeed in this position, you must: • MBA-Finance from tier-I/ II institutes/ CA, CFA (US). • 8+ years of experience in Equity Research. • Have at least 3 years of people management experience in leading teams of at least 3+ members. • Experience in investment analysis (either buy or sell-side). • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills. • Proven ability to deliver under a high-pressure environment with a passion for overcoming challenges. • Be organized and can multi-task. • Quality-focused with attention to detail and client service. • Technologically competent (Word, Excel, Internet, Bloomberg, Reuters, FactSet, etc.). • Have strong analytical skills; be able to interpret data, identify trends, and make suggestions for improvements. • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions. • Have strong verbal and written communication skills; be able to communicate in a clear, constructive, and professional manner.
