Job Title: Head – Electrical & Instrumentation Company – Minetech Location: Republic of Congo (ROC)
Experience: 15 years+ Role Overview: The Head – Electrical will be responsible for overseeing all electrical aspects of our projects, particularly focusing on the preparation, analysis, approval, and monitoring of high voltage (HV) equipment and substation work. This role requires continuous coordination with consultants and contractors to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our power distribution systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, particularly in high voltage systems, and will be skilled in project management, technical evaluation, and team leadership. Key Responsibilities: Prepare High Voltage switchgear layout drawings for substations. Check, analyze, and approve drawings and technical specifications for MRSS (Main Receiving Substation). Suggest changes in electrical drawings for improved safety, protection, and reliability. Coordinate continuously with consultants on various technical matters related to 220 KV/35 KV substations. Monitor the work progress of substations closely. Float technical enquiries to manufacturers with the help of the commercial department and clarify their queries through correspondence or meetings. Approve technical data sheets for equipment to be installed at MRSS. Follow up on the manufacturing status of various HV equipment ordered. Supervise contractors working on MRSS projects, including status of steel structures, tower structures, foundation, panels, and drawing corrections. Conduct meetings with contractors to address any deviations in project execution and advise on expediting jobs. Finalize drawings and data sheets provided by equipment suppliers, including general arrangement, control, and power circuit drawings for substations and transformers. Maintain constant contact with EPC contractors, suggesting changes to furnace transformers, single line diagrams, and control circuit drawings. Oversee all electrical project work, including instrumentation and automation. Supervise and monitor the erection and commissioning of all electrical installations. Update and preserve records of electrical drawings, manuals, and other documentation. Inspect related equipment and installations. Coordinate with HOD Commercial for contract preparation. Prepare training schedules for employees. Plan manpower for the department. Plan the electrical budget. Manage spare parts planning and inventory.
Job Requirements & Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 15 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on high voltage systems. Proven experience in substation design, installation, and commissioning. Strong knowledge of HV switchgear, transformers, and control systems. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and coordination skills. Ability to lead and train a team effectively. Proficient in using electrical design software and tools.
