Job Overview The Head of Public Policy and Legal will be responsible for leading and managing the company's public policy initiatives and legal matters. This role will involve developing and implementing strategies to integrate the organisation with relevant public policies, meeting relevant Government Stakeholders, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and providing legal guidance to support the company's business objectives.

Key Responsibilities Policy Strategy and Advocacy: Develop and implement strategies to advocate public policy objectives in areas relevant to the company's business objectives. Engage with policymakers, regulatory bodies, and industry associations to advocate for favourable policies and regulations. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, analyse potential impacts on the business, and advise senior leadership accordingly.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key government officials, industry leaders, and other stakeholders. Represent the company in public forums, panels, and industry groups. Collaborate with internal teams, such as legal, compliance, and marketing, to ensure a unified company stance.

Corporate Communications: Lead corporate communication efforts related to public policy matters. Develop and oversee messaging on policy issues for internal and external audiences. Manage crisis communication related to regulatory and public policy issues.

Legal: Provide legal advice and support to the company's leadership and various departments, including but not limited to product development, marketing, and compliance. Ensure compliance with local, national, and international laws and regulations. Oversee and manage the company's legal matters, including contracts, litigation, intellectual property, and employment law. Conduct legal research on various topics related to market sectors, public policy, and tax laws including but not limited to regulations, securities laws, and privacy laws. Analyse and interpret laws and regulations to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including service agreements and non-disclosure agreements. Assist with the preparation of legal documents such as legal opinions, memoranda, and corporate resolutions. Collaborate with outside counsel and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Manage relationships with external legal counsel and ensure cost-effective legal services. Conduct legal risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.

Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of public policy and corporate affairs professionals. Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Manage budgets and resources allocated to public policy and corporate affairs initiatives.

Required Skill Sets Bachelor's degree in Law or a related field. Advanced degree preferred. A minimum of 12+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or a related field, with a proven track record in influencing policy decisions. Excellent analytical, research, drafting, and representation/communication skills. Proven track record of successful public policy advocacy and legal management. Excellent understanding of legislative and regulatory processes. Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
