Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced HR Consultant to support our early-stage, bootstrapped startup in building and scaling its human resources processes. As the HR Consultant, you will work closely with the founders and head of finance to design a strategic HR plan that fosters a strong culture, ensures compliance, and supports rapid growth. The ideal candidate has a hands-on approach, a deep understanding of startup dynamics, and the ability to build systems from the ground up with limited resources.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Strategy Development:

Collaborate with founders to develop an HR roadmap aligned with the company’s vision, mission, and goals.

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:

Build and implement a recruitment strategy to attract top talent. This includes creating job descriptions, sourcing candidates, and managing the interview process.

Onboarding & Training:

Develop and implement effective onboarding programs to ensure new hires are integrated seamlessly and understand company values, processes, and roles.

Employee Relations:

Act as a go-to person for employee relations issues, providing guidance and conflict resolution when necessary.

HR Policy Development:

Establish and formalize essential HR policies, including compensation, benefits, employee handbooks, and workplace safety, ensuring compliance with local labor laws.

Performance Management:

Design a performance management system, including regular feedback mechanisms, goal setting, and employee development plans.

Company Culture:

Support founders in creating a strong company culture that reflects the startup’s values and encourages innovation and teamwork.

Compensation & Benefits:

Advise on competitive and sustainable compensation structures, including salary benchmarking and stock options in line with the company’s financial constraints.

Legal Compliance:

Ensure the startup complies with all employment laws and regulations, including contracts, termination policies, and equal opportunity employment.

HR Technology Implementation:

Recommend and help implement HR software solutions for payroll, employee records, and performance tracking.

Change Management:

Guide the startup through organizational changes as it scales, including restructuring, role changes, and leadership development.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred). 5+ years of experience in HR, with at least 2 years in a startup or fast-growth environment. Proven experience in designing HR frameworks and processes for early-stage companies. Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with both employees and leadership. Hands-on experience in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management. Ability to work independently and adapt to rapidly changing business needs. Proficiency in HRIS systems and tech-savvy enough to implement HR tools in a lean environment.

Preferred Skills:

Experience working in a bootstrapped startup with limited resources. Familiarity with compensation strategies for startups, including stock options and equity plans. Experience in guiding company culture development in tech or innovation-driven environments.
