Responsibilities:

As an IT Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our IT infrastructure during India business hours. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, proactive problem-solving, networking knowledge (including FIX and VPN), experience with ticketing systems and SLAs, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • System Administration:
    Manage and maintain Windows, Linux, and Unix systems, ensuring their stability, security, and performance.
  • Infrastructure Support:
    Build, configure, and troubleshoot our infrastructure, including FIX and VPN connectivity, addressing any technical issues that arise.
  • Proactive Monitoring:
    Implement and utilize monitoring tools to identify and resolve potential problems before they impact operations, with a focus on FIX and VPN health.
  • After-Hours Support:
    Provide timely emergency support for US infrastructure issues during India business hours, ensuring minimal downtime, including troubleshooting FIX and VPN connectivity.
  • Ticketing System Management:
    Set up, configure, and maintain a ticketing system to efficiently handle client requests and track their progress.
  • SLA Management:
    Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for client requests, prioritizing and resolving issues promptly to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Automation:
    Automate routine tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Bash) and tools like cron jobs to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Tool Management:
    Install, configure, automate, and monitor various tools such as IIS, SQL databases, Nginx, Apache, RabbitMQ, Redis, and MySQL, as well as FIX engines and VPN appliances.
  • Collaboration:
    Work effectively with team members to achieve common goals and ensure smooth IT operations.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Windows/Linux/Unix system administrator
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows and Linux systems
  • Proficiency in IIS, Task Scheduler, PowerShell, WinSCP, and Bash scripting
  • Familiarity with SQL database operations and various versions of SQL databases
  • Hands-on experience with cron jobs and shell scripting
  • Knowledge of installation and configuration of tools like Nginx, Apache, RabbitMQ, Redis, MySQL, etc.
  • Experience with FIX protocol and VPN technologies (setup, configuration, troubleshooting)
  • Experience with setting up and managing ticketing systems (e.G., Jira, Zendesk, ServiceNow)
  • Understanding of SLAs and commitment to meeting service level objectives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
