Job Title: System Administrator Experience: 5-7 years Contract Duration: 6 Months+ Location: Remote Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the customers IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role requires a deep technical understanding of IT systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: System Administration: Manage and maintain servers, VMware ESXi, Azure Cloud platforms, storage, backup and other critical IT infrastructure components, ensuring high availability and performance. Network Management: Build, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs, to ensure reliable and secure connectivity. Security: Implement and monitor security measures to protect IT systems and data from unauthorized access, vulnerabilities, and threats. Technical Support: Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal downtime. Project Management: Lead and participate in IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new technology deployments, ensuring successful implementation and adherence to timelines and budgets. Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability in case of system failures. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT systems, configurations, processes, and procedures. Collaboration: Work closely with other IT team members and departments to align IT initiatives with business goals and provide technical expertise and support. Training and Development: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends and provide training and knowledge sharing to other IT staff and end-users. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Experience: 5-7 years of experience in an IT engineering or system administration role. Technical Skills: Proficiency in managing and administering Windows and Linux servers. Strong understanding of M365 & Entra ID , along with MS Intune Good understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP concepts Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs). Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.). Knowledge of storage systems (SAN, NAS) and backup solutions. Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid cloud environments. Understanding of IT security principles and practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection. Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or similar are preferred. Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with a collaborative and supportive attitude. Project Management: Experience in managing IT projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring. Working Conditions: Work timings will be primarily UK & US business hours
