Summary:
The Perl Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining software applications using the Perl programming language. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Perl and its associated frameworks and experience with database management systems. Success in this position will be demonstrated by the ability to deliver high-quality code that meets project requirements and deadlines. This role is critical to the success of our organization as it supports the development of our software products and services.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain applications using Perl modules/code that meets requirements, is high quality, is maintainable, and performs efficiently and effectively.
- Develops and maintains applications and databases by evaluating client needs, analyzing requirements, and developing software systems.
- Incorporate standards and best practices, including performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing projects on time and with minimal defects.
- Protects operations by keeping information confidential and adhering to all company information security policies.
- Takes ownership of processes/applications post-development, including daily monitoring to ensure ongoing success.
- Ensures that the project management system is updated with current status and notes.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Review and provide feedback on functional and technical requirements.
- Define and propose solutions for meeting requirements.
- Contributing to improvements in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) utilizing practices such as test-driven development (TDD), static code analysis, code reviews, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automated security scanning.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with Perl development.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with RESTful APIs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with SCRUM or other Agile methodologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team.
