Job Summary: The client is looking for a Linux AIX Engineer: We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Engineer to join our IT team. The Linux Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Linux-based systems, ensuring their stability, security, and performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Linux server environments, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) to meet business requirements. Manage system services such as Apache, Nginx, MySQL, and Docker. Patch Management: Apply security patches, updates, and upgrades to Linux servers to maintain system integrity. Automate patch management processes using tools like Red Hat Satellite, Ansible. Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor system performance using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus, and optimize resource allocation to ensure high availability and efficiency. Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum performance Security Implementation: Implement security best practices for Linux systems, including firewalls, SELinux, access controls, and encryption. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments, addressing any identified risks promptly. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure Linux environments comply with relevant regulations and industry standards. Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, processes, and security policies. Automation: Develop and deploy automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Ansible to streamline system administration tasks, such as provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to enhance system consistency, scalability, and reliability. Process Optimization: Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency. Continuously evaluate new tools and technologies to optimize Linux system operations. Backup Management: Implement and manage backup solutions for Linux servers, ensuring data protection and availability. Perform regular backup testing and disaster recovery drills to validate recovery processes. Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for critical Linux systems and applications. Ensure rapid recovery of services in the event of system failures. Advanced Support: Provide advanced support for Linux-related issues, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network problems. Serve as an escalation point for more complex issues that require deep technical expertise. Collaboration: Work closely with development, network, and storage teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of Linux systems. Participate in cross-functional projects, contributing to the design and implementation of new systems and services System Optimization: Continuously assess and improve the performance, security, and stability of Linux environments. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to recommend and implement system enhancements. Qualifications: 5+ years of demonstrated experience supporting and administering Linux infrastructure Experience administering AIX systems 8+ years of IT experience supporting and troubleshooting at an enterprise level Strong understanding of networking, virtual servers, monitoring, security, policies Understanding of Agile framework and experience with project management tools such Jira Experience with a programming or scripting language Thoroughness and keen attention to detail Strong understanding of SSL Certificates, external DNS records and Web Hosting
