Program Manager


Vihara is a social impact oriented organization dedicated to delivering change in the Global Health space. We apply transdisciplinary approaches to deliver impact on the ground combining the strengths of Human Centered Design, Systems Thinking, Ethnographic Research and Behavioral Science.


Over the last two decades we have demonstrated the use of these tools in addressing some of the most pressing challenges in Public Health including Mental Health, Gender Equity, Family Health and Sexual and Reproductive Health, COVID Vaccination.


Ours is a diverse team of talented individuals from backgrounds including Design, Social and Human Sciences, Management and Marketing, who are all dedicated to applying their respective specializations in creating social innovations that are holistic and impactful. What you will get to work on


Vihara Innovation Network will be working to enhance the uptake of family planning services among young and low parity couples in Meghalaya. The project aims to utilize gender-sensitive approaches to promote collaborative decision making between young men and women.


Over the course of 18 months, you will


  • Conduct situational analysis and discover barriers and enablers of uptake
  • Develop beneficiary segments or personas
  • Design tailored intervention strategies through rapid iterative prototyping and testing.
  • Implement design interventions and fine-tune them to produce a shift in outcome indicators


This is a unique opportunity for designers and researchers to develop practical HCD-led innovations as well as trial and scale them to witness the impact they make by shifting the outcome indicators. Given the nature of the opportunity and the necessary outcome based approach we are utilizing, project teams will make frequent visits to Meghalaya while otherwise working out of Delhi.


Location:
Delhi (on-site work in Meghalaya, Bihar, Jharkhand)

Experience:
3-5 years experience in conducting research and participating in all aspects of design research—including planning, executing, analysis, synthesis, deliverable creation

Educational Qualifications:
Degree in Communication Design / Systems Design / Social Design / Interaction Design / User Experience Design / Public Health / Design Research / Strategic Design Management





The activities you will engage in


  • Health systems design and research:
    Participate in planning and conducting design research inquiry into the uptake on family planning methods and products.
  • Deep dive into the local context, gather insights and develop actionable strategies and ready-to-deploy interventions
  • Apply systems thinking and a human centered design lens to the project during the research as well as designing innovations.
  • Conduct rapid prototyping and testing to create effective, human-centered, contextually rooted and scalable solutions
  • Generate knowledge products that will document and share the learnings and outcomes of this effort with the wider ecosystem.
  • The project is a unique opportunity to develop practical HCD-led innovations as well as trial and scale them to witness the impact they make by shifting the outcome indicators.


Skills we are looking for


  • A good understanding of the human-centered design process
  • Designing and conducting ethnographic research and design research in rural contexts to identify opportunities for intervention
  • Designing new research tools and methodologies, as well as employing established tools for co-design, concept generation , and rapid prototyping for product and service solutions.
  • Communicating insights through powerful and clear information design i.E. reports, data visualizations, illustrations, storyboards, photographs and other media
