Cosmicport, a space technology startup, is building a launch vehicle tailored for small and medium-range satellites, in addition to advancing Earth Observation Satellites (EOS) designed for Sun-Synchronous Orbits (SSO) to serve commercial entities. Our cost-effective reusable launch vehicle provides precise and dependable launch solutions, facilitating the establishment of constellation platforms. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced cryogenic liquid rocket engine design expert engineer to join our team. As a Principal Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and development of cryogenic liquid rocket engines, and the incumbent will be an integral part of the Research and Development (R&D) of the launch vehicle propulsion team.

Responsibilities: Possess extensive knowledge in rocket propulsion systems, particularly cryogenic liquid rocket engines, to play a critical role in the design, development, testing, and integration of advanced propulsion systems Lead the technical direction and execution of the liquid rocket engine program, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and mission objectives Design and Development: Oversee the design and development of liquid rocket engines, including system architecture, component design, subsystem-level analysis, modeling, and simulation. Ensure that designs meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements Testing and Validation: Plan, execute, and analyze results from engine tests, including cold flow, static fire tests, component tests, and full-system integration tests. Develop and implement test plans, procedures, and instrumentation setups for evaluating engine performance. Identify and resolve technical issues that arise during testing. Technical Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert for liquid rocket propulsion systems, providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams. Project Management: Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations. Coordinate with other engineering teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project completion. Innovation and Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives in propulsion technology, manufacturing processes, and testing methodologies. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and presentations. Communicate project status, technical findings, and recommendations to senior management and external stakeholders. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs and processes comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements

Basic Qualification: Minimum of 2 years of experience in rocket propulsion engineering, with a focus on cryogenic engine design and development. Proven track record of leading complex engineering projects from concept to completion. Experience in designing and developing liquid engines with all major subsystems, such as injectors, igniters, thrust chambers, gas generators, and turbopumps, is preferred. Experience with cryogenic propellants such as LH2, LCH4, LOX, etc., and high-performance liquid engines. Expertise in the design and operation of high-pressure cryogenic propellant feed systems. Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in propulsion system design, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and combustion processes. Experience with CAD software, finite element analysis(FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools. Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, manage projects and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop innovative solutions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. High attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable, and safe propulsion systems. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to rocket propulsion. Experience with project management tools and methodologies. Active participation in professional organizations and participation in industry conferences. Proficient in the design and operation of high-pressure cryogenic propellant feed systems.

Compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis with consideration of knowledge, skills, education, and experience. You may be eligible for annual bonuses.
