Company is looking for an experienced Naval Architect/ Structural Engineer as Senior Technical Officer in our office in Kochi, India

JOB DESCRIPTION

Performing review /verification of technical requirements of marine vessels/structures as per rules and regulations under various IMO code/convention and classification rules of International Register of Shipping

Analyzing new construction and modification drawings of various types of ships with the aim of approving them on behalf of INTLREG Class Society, in accordance with classification rules, IMO and other international regulations.

Perform Finite Element modeling, calculations and Structural analysis (Static strength analysis, modal analysis, harmonic analysis, fatigue analysis, etc.)

Candidate will be responsible for guiding surveyors and other technical staff as Subject matter expert in his/ her area of expertise when required.

Assist in updating and maintaining Ships classification rules and Survey Procedures/ guidance Plan approval procedures, technical aspects of different types of ships as per the IRS Ship Classification Rules and requirements specified by various IMO conventions.

·Should be knowledgeable of classification society functions, classification rules, IMO conventions and regulations such as SOLAS, MARPOL, LL, Rules, Class, Tonnage Conventions and other codes.

The position is generally office/ desktop work based in our Kochi office.

Perform other related technical projects as assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

Must hold at least Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architect or Structural Engineer.

Minimum 5 years of having worked in a ship design house or plan appraisal in a classification society (preferred) -Proficiency in structural engineering shall be able to handle on the job and medium level engineering structural analysis experience as Naval architect with the following experience back ground:

A. Foundation Analysis of Onboard equipment like Main Engine, Navigational Mast using STAAD, SACS,

B. Finite Element modelling of ship structures in FE software (ANSYS, Patran, etc.)

C. Structural analysis (Static strength analysis, modal analysis, harmonic analysis, fatigue analysis, etc.) of various ship structures.

D. Understanding and developing various tools required for structural analysis using the latest computer application as per the task requirement.

E. Preparing analysis reports for clients

·Should be familiar with the Ship Classification Rules, IMO Codes/ conventions and regulations such as SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, MLC and other maritime technical codes.

Experience with Maritime Audits preferred. ISM/ ISPS Audit experience/ Training and MLC 2006 Training highly desirable.

Thorough knowledge of the process and procedures related to ship classification for both ships in service as well as new building of merchant ships.

Must have strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills in English. Professional document writing skills is recommended.
