Sr. / Engineer, Rapidcast (Programming & Modeling)

Roles & Responsibilities

The Sr. Engineer/Engineer, Rapidcast (Programming & Modeling) is responsible for leading and executing the programming and modeling aspects of the Rapidcast process within the aerospace casting manufacturing environment. This role involves utilizing advanced software and technologies to develop and optimize casting models and programming solutions, ensuring high precision and efficiency in rapid prototyping and production processes. The Engineer will work closely with design, engineering, and production teams to support the development of complex aerospace components.

Roles and Responsibilities include:

  1. Collaborate with the design team to understand project objectives and requirements, operates 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks etc. to create detailed aerospace casting models.
  2. Coordinate with the design team to set up simulation parameters and conditions, including material properties, environmental factors, and boundary conditions.
  3. Collaborate with design engineers and other stakeholders to optimize casting designs based on simulation findings. Suggest modifications and improvements to enhance the casting's performance, durability, and manufacturability.
  4. Coordinate with the In-charge design to conduct thorough quality checks on modeling, simulation, and pattern drawings to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
  5. Generate comprehensive reports summarizing simulation outcomes and recommendations for design changes.
  6. Coordinate and manage multiple modeling and simulation development projects concurrently, ensuring they adhere to timelines and budgets.
  7. Develop and implement programming solutions for rapid prototyping and casting operations, ensuring compatibility with manufacturing equipment and processes.
  8. Analyze and refine Rapidcast processes to improve efficiency, reduce lead times, and enhance the quality of cast components.
  9. Utilize and maintain advanced software tools for modeling, simulation, and programming related to the Rapidcast process.
  10. Work closely with design engineers, production teams, and other stakeholders to integrate modeling and programming solutions into the overall manufacturing workflow.
  11. Oversee the development and testing of rapid prototypes to validate design concepts and ensure they meet aerospace quality and performance standards.
  12. Identify and resolve issues related to modeling, programming, and rapid casting processes, providing technical support and solutions as needed.
  13. Maintain accurate records of modeling and programming work, including process parameters, design changes, and performance metrics.
  14. Ensure that all models and programs meet aerospace industry standards and specifications and participate in quality reviews and audits.
  15. Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and team members on Rapidcast programming and modeling techniques and best practices.
  16. Lead or contribute to projects related to Rapidcast process improvements, new technology implementations, and other initiatives to enhance manufacturing capabilities.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Candidates should have 2 to 4 years of overall work experience..
  • 1-2 years of experience working in New Product design and development department with hands-on experience and knowledge of a diverse range of software for 3D-Modeling and simulation is a must.
  • Knowledge of Casting & Pattern Drawing development. Prior knowledge of aerospace codes and standards such as NADCAP is preferred.

Technical / Functional Expertise & other competencies:

  • Expertise in operating different types of modelling and simulation software for aerospace castings such as AutoCAD, Solidworks etc.
  • Sound knowledge of different types of casting methodologies such as investment casting, Rapid cast, Replicast etc.
  • Prior knowledge of ASTM Codes and standards for aerospace casting materials, advance manufacturing techniques and intricate mandatory regulations and standards pertinent to aerospace casting products such as NADCAP, ISO-documentation related to AS-9100.
  • Excellent project coordination skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with internal teams and customers.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on product quality and customer satisfaction.
