Position description

The Head of Technology is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s technology infrastructure and strategy. As the Head of Technology will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s technological direction, ensuring the security and efficiency of existing systems, and driving innovation. He/She will collaborate closely with other department heads to align technology initiatives with the company’s overall goals and objectives.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

# Develop and Implement Technology Strategy:

• Create and execute a comprehensive technology strategy and roadmap that aligns with the organization’s mission and vision.
• Identify opportunities for technology adoption and enhancement across various programs and processes.

# Team Leadership:

• Manage and lead a team of technology professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the technology team.

# Infrastructure and Security:

• Oversee the design, development, and implementation of technology solutions.
• Ensure the security and integrity of the company’s technology infrastructure.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance efficiency and productivity.

# Collaboration:

• Collaborate with other departments (such as agriculture programs, education, HR, and finance) to identify and address technology needs.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into actionable technology solutions.

# Innovation and Trends:

• Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in technology to drive innovation.
• Explore emerging technologies (such as AI/ML) and assess their potential impact on the organization.

# Budget Management:

• Manage technology budgets and resources effectively.
• Ensure cost-effective utilization of technology resources.

# Policy and Compliance:

• Establish and enforce technology policies and procedures to ensure compliance and data protection.

# Oversee IT services & Infrastructure

Desired skills & competencies

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.G., Amazon Web Services - AWS).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java, and Python.
• Experience in project management and coordination.
• Understanding of software architecture and analytical thinking.
• Strong technical knowledge of AI, machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modelling, relevant programming languages and libraries

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering, mathematics, economics, statistics or related fields from a recognized university/institute
• Master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, and related fields from a recognized university/institute.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in technology leadership roles.
• Proven track record of successfully implementing and managing complex technology projects.
• Strong knowledge of emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
